Subject content

Work is more independent and there is individual choice as to direction of work and the artists studied. Recent topics have included vanitas still-lifes, Japanese printing, Lucien Freud and many others.

Extension work

All key stages are encouraged to use the Art department facilities at break and lunchtimes to either carry on with class work or do their own personal work.

There is an Art club that is open to 'gifted and talented' students. Last year they did a group project based on the work of graffiti artist Banksy and this resulted in a mural for the quad area.

AS students have been involved in designing a mural for a local primary school based on the Wizard of Oz.

Enrichment days and trips

AS/A2 students will visit galleries appropriate to their studies.
