Creative Partnerships

A selected group of 15 students from years 7-12 are working in mixed age groups on Enrichment days with two creative practitioners Gregg Stobbs and Dom Lemoussu producing interactive media-based interactive art installations on the subject of memories. The 4 groups of pupils have been brainstorming the idea of Interactive Memories by going on ‘Memory Hunts’ around the school and by staging ‘”Happenings”. One group papered over a block of lockers with slogans on the subject of world peace and another created a crime scene. Both groups taped the reactions of other students as research into the idea of interaction.

The project has been aimed at developing the creative process and bringing the school together as a community. Pupils have been given a free reign to develop their response to the idea of an Interactive Memory System. As Oakwood Park is an I.T. Specialist School, the students have a wide selection of resources to choose from over the next 10 sessions. So far their ideas for the final product range from a ‘memory room’ to a series of overlapping movement sensitive films. The school community will have to wait until March to experience the pupils’ Interactive Memory Systems.
