French is the first foreign language offered to pupils in Yr 7

Subject content

Basic concepts are introduced in Yr 7 with greetings, myself & family, pets, places and simple descriptions.

In grammar we learn about articles, adjectives, adverbs and how to express oneself in the Present Tense (Yr 7).

In Yr 8 we introduce the 1 st Past Tense in grammar & we consolidate the previous year's grammatical concepts and broaden vocabulary.

By the end of Yr 9 students should be able to express themselves in Present, Past & Future tenses. New topics such as house & home, daily routine, school, pastimes and holidays will have been introduced.

Enrichment days and trips

Trips (day trips) have been arranged for Yr 7, Yr 8 & Yr 9 (in the Boulogne area). Yr 8 goes on a residential trip to Normandy in the summer. Yr 13 students go on a cross-curricular trip to the Loire Valley .

Plays have been performed at school in French by the Onatti Theatre.
