Geography OFSTED Report

Oakwood Park Grammar School are celebrating the outcome of a recent Ofsted subject inspection for Geography where the department was deemed to be ‘outstanding’.  At the end of February, following a rigorous two day inspection, the visiting Inspector from Ofsted judged the key areas of ‘Achievement and Standards’, ‘Teaching and Learning’ and ‘Leadership and Management’ as outstanding.  In particular the report highlighted the exceptional achievement of students at all key stages compared to the national and Kent grammar school average.  It also comments on ‘…an outstanding range of strategies to support students learning’ both within and outside of lessons.  It acknowledges that this quality of support, along with strong leadership and management of the department play a key role in the success of the subject within the school. In addition, it also recognises that the outstanding personal development of students ‘makes an important contribution to their excellent achievement’, noting in particular that they ‘…collaborate well with teachers, are ready to work hard and very keen to achieve well.’  Headteacher Kevin Moody comments, ‘we are all delighted with this impressive report which is testament to the dedication and effort of both the staff and students.’
