AS Politics

This year centres on contemporary British Politics.

  • Are our political parties failing to uphold democracy?
  • Why are so many people turning to pressure groups?
  • Do we want further European Integration?
  • Is Scotland heading for further devolution or complete independence?
  • Why does our electoral system put into power a government which more people have voted against than for?
  • What are your rights? What are your responsibilities?
  • Is our judicial system unfair?

If you read a quality newspaper or keep up to date with political events on line then you will have an excellent grounding for this fast moving course.

A2 Politics

This year builds on the last by exploring the ideologies behind our political system.

Are you a socialist? Do you have liberal principles? Do you spell conservative with a small ‘c’?

You will examine the ideas of some of history’s greatest political thinkers and look at the impact they have on today’s politics.
