Subject content

Students are taught in their form groups and will encounter Number and Algebra, Shape Space and Measures and Data Handling topics at Level 6 in the National Curriculum in Year 7, Level 7 in the National Curriculum in Year 8 and Level 8 in the National Curriculum in Year 9.

Each student will be entered at an appropriate tier (6-8 or 5-7) for the Key Stage 3 SAT's

Extension work

  • Individual tasks for high achievers which either deepen knowledge on the current topic or broaden their perspectives outside the boundaries of the curriculum
  • Investigative tasks which are tackled by all the class
  • Use of the UKMT materials in class which encourage students to 'Think Mathematically' on topics within or outside the curriculum
  • Problem solving journal for secondary students produced by Tony Gardiner at Birmingham University
