Academic Enrichment

With stretch and challenge at the heart of the curriculum every lesson is an opportunity for students to enrich their understanding of a subject. Students are encouraged and supported to deepen their grasp of a subject by moving beyond a textbook both in terms of their own research and through the school’s enrichment programme. The school offers students a wide range of opportunities which allow students to extend their understanding of the curriculum outside the confines of the classroom.

Students in Years 7 through to 13 have ten Enrichment Days throughout the academic year which focus on taking learning outside of the classroom.  Students currently have the opportunity to:

  • Deepen their understanding of Maths by visiting the Mathematics Gallery at the Science Museum.
  • Enhance their understanding of the realities of World War One through war poetry and a visit to the Ypres region.
  • Explore modern art through a visit to the Tate Modern.
  • Practice their language skills through a visit to St Omer.

Students also have the opportunity to take part in residential visits which allow them to explore a subject more fully.  These included:

  • Language exchange programme.
  • Drama workshop
  • Government and Politics visit to Washington
  • History visit to Rome
  • Art visit to Venice
