Teaching

Teaching and Learning at OPGS is underpinned by the OPGS AIM strategy.

A – Academic Rigour

I – Interest and Engagement

M – Mastery and Questioning

At OPGS we believe these are the key ingredients for teaching highly able students. We do not prescribe certain pedagogical tasks to our teachers but encourage them to explore learning activities which draw on these principles.

All lessons should have OPGS AIM ingredients within them. Whether it is a low stakes retrieval quiz, analysis of an academic piece of reading or revisiting complex ideas to ensure mastery, teachers in our school aim to plan lessons which are challenging and engaging.

At GCSE and A Level, every member of staff delivering lessons is a subject specialist with the knowledge and skills to ensure ALL learners make exceptional progress through high quality teaching, learning and assessment.
