Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At Oakwood Park Grammar School, we are committed to promoting equality, fostering good relations and ensuring that every student is treated with dignity and respect. We aim to remove barriers to opportunity and enable all students to achieve their potential. Kindness, Tolerance and Respect underpins everything we do.

 Tackling Discrimination and Bullying

We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying, harassment or victimisation. Concerns are taken seriously and addressed in line with school policies. Our pastoral systems support students' wellbeing, while monitoring and targeted interventions help identify and address barriers to learning, participation and achievement. Students know and understand our fundamental principles on behaviour.

 Promoting Equality Through School Life

Our curriculum, teaching, pastoral provision and personal development programme promote respect, inclusion, diversity and positive relationships. We encourage students to challenge prejudice, appreciate different perspectives and participate fully in academic and wider school opportunities. The curriculum of each subject is available here: Oakwood Park Grammar School - Curriculum Subjects

Equality in Decision-Making

Equality is considered when developing policies, reviewing provision and making decisions. We consider the potential impact on different groups, including those with protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, and use relevant information and feedback to identify improvements and promote equality of opportunity.

Equality Objectives 2026-2030

Objective 1: SEND and Disadvantage

To reduce identified gaps in attendance, academic progress and outcomes between pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), disadvantaged pupils and their peers, through effective monitoring, targeted support and inclusive classroom practice.

Success criteria: Attendance, progress and attainment data are regularly analysed; identified gaps are addressed through targeted interventions; and outcomes for these pupil groups improve over time.

Objective 2: Access and Participation

To ensure that all pupils, regardless of background or personal circumstances, have equitable access to the curriculum, enrichment activities, student leadership opportunities and wider personal development provision.

Success criteria: Participation in curriculum and enrichment opportunities is monitored; barriers to participation are identified and addressed; and pupils from different backgrounds are supported to engage fully in school life.

Objective 3: Inclusion and Relationships

To promote an inclusive school culture in which discrimination, prejudice and harassment are challenged consistently, and all pupils feel safe, respected and able to belong (underpinned by Kindness, Tolerance and Respect).

Success criteria: Prejudice-related incidents and discriminatory language are recorded, monitored and addressed appropriately; pupils are educated about respect and equality; and pupil feedback is used to evaluate and strengthen their sense of belonging.
