John Downton Awards

On the 15th November Joseph Clinton in year 12 was awarded the painting prize in the 11-16 year old category at the John Downton Awards. He was presented with his prize at the awards evening at County Hall in Maidstone for his final piece from his GCSE Art exam. The standard was very high and to win a prize is a great achievement, Joseph has worked very hard over the years developing his skill in art and design and is currently continuing to refine his skill at A level. His work is currently on display at County Hall along with 4 other Oakwood students that are being displayed in the 17-18 category and can be viewed there weekdays till 5pm. Members of the public can also vote for Joseph’s or the other Oakwood students work to win the People’s Choice Award at the beginning of January. After the end of the exhibition at county Hall Joseph’s work will be displayed at the Turner Contemporary in Margate. The Art department is very proud of Joseph and all the students that managed to get selected for exhibition at the John Downton Award this year for their dedication and hard work in Art.
