Message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to Oakwood Park Grammar School!

I wanted to take this opportunity to formally welcome all of you to our school community and wish you seven happy and fulfilling years with us.

Please find as an attachment to this email a parent information booklet.* This booklet contains the key information you will need to know about our school in order to start preparing your son to join us in September. You can also use the following link to view the latest edition of Oakwood pages.

For the rest of this academic year, you will receive a weekly email from Mr Keeling-Jones who is Senior Pastoral Leader and Director of Studies for year 7. In this email he will be giving you some important information, in bitesize chunks, guiding you through the process of readying your son to start Secondary school. There will be a booklet with suggested activities for your son to complete, as well as key preparation tasks and topics for discussion at home. The feedback from parents in previous years has been that they found this structured programme of activities helpful, however there is no obligation to submit the completed booklet so please feel free to adapt the program to suit your own family as you are the ones who know your son best.

There are some key dates that I would like to draw your attention to:

Parents information evening: Tuesday 21^st June 7pm
Students are not expected to attend this event; however, they are allowed if you have no alternative childcare
Student transition day: Thursday 7^th July 8:30am – 3.20pm
First day of school for year 7: Monday 5^th September

There will of course be further communications from the school regarding our transition support – please do add this email address to your address book to ensure that they are not filtered to your spam folder.

We would like to pass on our message of thanks to you and your staff, and especially to his A level subject teachers for their unfailing support of our son during his studies. He was delighted with his A Level grades yesterday. We are both very proud of what he has achieved, not just in this very difficult year but throughout his seven years at OPGS.
