The Curriculum at Oakwood Park Grammar School
Our curriculum from Year 7 through to Year 13 is designed with the intent to give all students at OPGS ‘an exceptional learning experience’. We offer our students a broad range of academic opportunities and enriching experiences to prepare them for the challenges of the modern working life, as well as promoting their development as well-balanced individuals. The whole school curriculum is complemented by an extensive range of clubs and societies.
In the first three years, students follow a relevant and stimulating curriculum through which new ideas and concepts are introduced. They are encouraged to think hard, question and debate in order that they become confident learners, establish good study habits and develop a thirst for knowledge.
The GCSE curriculum is studied over two years; all students follow the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) which ensures that students pursue a balance of rigorous academic subjects at GCSE and serves as sound preparation for Post-16 study. Our KS4 curriculum allows students to choose from a wide range of academic subjects upon which to build their future career paths.
In the Sixth Form we provide an academic curriculum offering flexibility and a broad choice of subjects. All students follow a full-time programme of study based around A levels with students choosing either three or four A Level subjects to study over their two year Sixth Form career and the additional option to undertake an Extended Project qualification.
