I hope that the boys managed to have a look at planning their journeys to school last week – It can be a source of anxiety for students in the first few weeks but if you continue to talk about the journey at home or when out and about (and what they can do as a contingency plan if things go wrong) this should help them to manage the journey more smoothly, and reduce the anxiety in the build up to the start of school in September.
For students who may be getting the bus next year, further information about the KCC Travel Saver bus pass can be found here: https://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools/school-transport/KCC-travel-saver Applications are currently suspended but the site will give you more an idea of how they system works, costs etc. We will let you know once we have more information about applying for next year’s passes.
This week’s task is for the boys to familiarise themselves with the school website and complete pages 3-6 of the booklet. The majority of the answers can be found in the year 6-7 transition section which can be found from the main menu at the bottom of the “About us” section, but there is lots of other information on the site. They might also like to take a look at the school magazine @Oakwood to see the kind of activities and events that happen in school.
As part of this task, you son may be wondering about form groups and houses. Houses and form groups are allocated after we have received information from your son’s primary school, so that we can ensure students’ needs are best met. You will be notified as soon as the Form groups and Houses are confirmed, which will then enable you to purchase the correct tie.

Most of the information they need to complete this section can also be found in the printed welcome pack that you received with your offer letter – if you would like them to work “offline” then this would be a good opportunity for them to read through this pack
