Transition Tips Week 7

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we would like to to revisit the journey planning we started in week 2.  There is a grid to fill in on page 12 of the transition booklet to assist with this.  Unfortunately, KCC have still temporarily suspended applications for bus passes but we will of course pass on any information to you about making your application as soon as we know more.

For those who are travelling by train, it may be a good time to start to investigate season tickets – it can sometimes work out cheaper for weekly tickets rather than monthly depending on where the holidays fall in the month – this could be something your son looks into.  Our term dates for the 2020-21 academic year can be found here: https://www.opgs.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Academic-Year-Dates-2020-21.pdf

I am really looking forward to speaking to the new students – my calls will be starting this week but it will take a while to get through all of you so don’t panic if you haven’t heard anything just yet!  I am also about to begin the process of creating the form groups – this is a final call for friendship requests, you can submit these via the web form here: https://bit.ly/OPGS_NEWY720-21 The deadline for this has passed, bit in case you have forgotten these need to be submitted today please for me to be able to take them into account during this process.

Kind Regards,

Miss Beeney

Activity: My journey to School

Work with your child to see how confident he is at planning their journey to school.

  • Can they remember their journey previously discussed in week 2?
  • Discuss the use of travel passes – what happens if they are lost?
  • What are the ‘backup’ plans for getting to and from school?
