We have a highly motivated and well qualified staff, supportive parents and, perhaps most importantly, students who are a delight to teach because of their excellent attitude to learning.
At OPGS we are always striving to match the needs of our students to the rapidly changing economic and higher education environments. The number and variety of offers of places from Oxbridge and other elite universities continues to grow. In recent years, we have also consolidated our connections with City firms and engineering companies. Every year we follow with excitement the careers of our students from years gone by. The fact that so many are keen to take current OPGS 6th Forms students on for work experience is testament to the warm and lasting relationships our staff develop with our 6th Form students.

A stunning Autumn weekend for the Year 10 practice Duke of Edinburgh expedition. Over 90 students taking part this weekend. Let's hope the weather holds for the final, assessed expedition. Well done to all of the boys involved and of course OPGS staff who have given up their weekend to make it all possible.

We are looking forward to welcoming back OPGS students on the 4th and 5th of September. To those who are new to the school, and are joining us in Year 7 and Year 12, we know that you will quickly feel part of OPGS community. Parents and carers should check emails next week for key communications from the school. We hope all members of the OPGS community enjoy the remainder of the Summer break.

Congratulations go to all of our Year 11 students who collected their GCSE results today. With so many outstanding performances at grade 8 and above it is difficult to select individual performances of note, however, congratulations to Joshua Bruce, Marcus Choi, Arthur Mak and Dominic Teodorescu who each gained a minimum of eight Grade 9 at GCSE. Our most able Mathematicians sit the FSMQ Advanced Maths qualification and they also celebrated a fantastic set of results with Joshua Bruce, Dominic Teodorescu, Ifan Bambury, Ryan Murphy, Nathan Peake, Oliver Bose, Arthur Mak, Mohammed Ahmed, Joshua Kwong, Marcus Choi, Oliver Burns, Ewan Tweddell, Sebastian Lane and Alexander Holmes all gaining an A grade, the highest grade which can be awarded. Over a fifth of all grades awarded were grade 8 or 9. The average grade was just below a 7. Headteacher Mr Moody commented 'I am delighted for our students. They, with the support of OPGS staff and of course parents and carers, have worked so hard to achieve these excellent results.'
